Laura Harrell is a 1991 graduate of Faulkner University with a Bachelor of Science in Business. Following college, she worked as a technician and, subsequently, in a management position at Space City Dental Laboratory for several years, before leaving to pursue appraisal, consulting and practice brokerage/transition consulting full-time.
Since 2011, Laura has been involved, as an appraiser and consultant to numerous dental practice transitions, involving the appraisal and sale of practices, the formation of partnerships, group practices, office sharing arrangements and other practice transitions.
In 2017, Laura received her Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) Certification from the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). NACVA’s globally recognized Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation is the most widely recognized business valuation credential and the only business valuation credential accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies® (NCCA®). She previously was a partner with her father, Ed Parks, at Practice Management Associates, in Huntsville, Alabama, and now has her own firm, Dental Practice Sales, LLC, with her father being an associate.
Many sales of dental practices include real estate sales; therefore, Laura is licensed as a Real Estate Broker in the states of Alabama and Tennessee. Laura is also a member of Practice Valuation Study Group, a national organization of professional practice valuators, brokers, and consultants.
Edwin “Ed” Parks has served the dental community for more than 40 years as founder and owner of Practice Management Associates and owner of Space City Dental Laboratory in Huntsville, Alabama, and as a dental practice consultant. Under Ed’s leadership, his businesses have provided quality and caring dental services to hundreds of clients in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Mississippi.
Ed is a certified dental technician with the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology. He has served as a member of the board of directors, as advisor to the board of directors, and as president of the Dental Laboratory Association of Alabama.
Before joining his daughter, Laura Harrell, at Dental Practice Sales, LLC, Ed’s combined history in dental labs, dental practices, and real estate led him to form Practice Management Associates in 1991. Through Practice Management Associates, Ed advised, appraised, and brokered dental practices. Additionally, Ed is a member of Practice Valuation Study Group, a national organization of professional practice valuators, brokers, and consultants.
An accomplished speaker, Ed is often requested for meetings, conferences, and dental study groups. He is also a veteran guest lecturer at the University of Alabama, School of Dentistry on options for dental practice purchases and business operations.
